We’re often asked:
What’s the story with Vermont Peak Properties?
There’s more to the story here than real estate, isn’t there?

Well, there is. And it all started with Vermont and not with real estate.

A casual conversation with native Vermonter, Joe Pollender, about barns, artisans, and another question: “. . .is northern Vermont the next frontier? That question stemmed from my observations as work took me to every part of Vermont except northern Vermont.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Joe, with over 30 years in real estate in Vermont, had just returned to Richford, way up on the Canadian border, where he grew up. A redevelopment project enticed him back: the former Sweat-Comings furniture manufacturing building which he had recently acquired was empty and waiting to be brought back to life.

Known today as the Main Street Mill project the redevelopment was accomplished through the joint partnership of the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Today that site is home to a regional medical center a pharmacy, housing, commercial office space and Mac’s Market, a grocery store. The project was the start of the town and area’s rejuvenation, which Joe and the group are proud to be a part of.

Within the year . . .

we owned a barn, we were introducing the work of Vermont artisans’ out west, had acquired a non-working farm, planted a few thousand blue spruce on the property, and purchased a historic building on Main Street in Richford.

Restoration began at our Main Street building, over-looking the Missisquoi River. It eventually became our company office and a small gallery showcasing work from local artisans.

Officially, in 2002, Vermont Peak Properties was created with Joe Pollender as a founding partner. Around Joe, coalesced a few individuals with varied backgrounds in real estate, marketing, public relations, and design. Varied as the group was, the members shared a commitment to restoring downtown, developing businesses in the area, and believing that partnership with like-minded people was the way to effect change.

Joe knows that some of the better real estate opportunities are to be found in Northern Vermont and that real estate here is location, timing, location.
